11:00 | Keynote Speech ¡ÈThe Role of IP in Economic Partnership¡É Mr. Benoît Battistelli (EPO President) European nations have long engaged in different forms of economic partnerships through the creation of the EEC, the EC, and finally the EU, the last of which was launched with the coming into force of the Treaty of Maastricht in 1993. We will learn about how, through such changes, European nations have achieved consensus and made adjustments in the process of establishing the EPC and the Unitary Patent system. In addition, advice will be given on how applicants in Japan can utilize these systems today. |

13:15 | Panel Discussion ( I ) Innovation in Countries in Ecomnomic Partnerships as well as Current Situation and the Prospects for IP Systems As ASEAN and other economic partnerships that include emerging nations strengthen, economic and IP globalization are accelerating. In the light of the circumstances, various IP-related issues that we can expect to arise in future will be introduced based on the relationship between business and innovation?including the flow of people, goods and money?and hints on IP strategy are provided.

15:45 | Panel Discussion (¶) Corporate Management & IP in Developing Global Operations -Preparing for the development of economic partnerships- We will discuss from a business viewpoint what matters are focused on in cases where economic partnerships are further strengthened during the development of global operations. Case studies of global IP activities will be introduced, and the constructive role that IP will play in the future in line with the progress of economic partnerships will be considered.
