The 12th JIPA IP Symposium Program

[Theme] “Let's talk a step further about IP strategy and the key to success in Asia!”
[Day & Time] Friday, February 1, 2013 (10:30-17:40)
[Place] Nagoya Congress Center
[Summary] With corporate activities globalizing at an ever faster pace, it is no exaggeration to say that IP strategy in Asian countries and regions -- a particularly important market for Japanese companies --is one of the factors that affects a company's competitiveness and furthermore, business success, in that market. In this symposium, the representative from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will talk about efforts on and expectations for IP protection in Asian countries, and representatives from national IP offices in Asia will discuss the issues and future prospects of their countries' IP systems. In addition, corporate representatives will discuss what kind of IP strategy companies should implement in Asian countries and regions in the future, through comparing companies' IP activities in China and other Asian countries and regions.

“Toward Raising the IP Protection Standard and Promoting information and communication technology Worldwide”
In order for companies to succeed in international business, it is essential to develop IP infrastructure in the market countries. WIPO is engaged in international infrastructure development, such as raising the IP protection standard and promoting information and communication technology worldwide through drafting IP conventions among many member countries and providing technical cooperation to developing countries.
