JIPA presented the JIPA awards at International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition（ITEX）2009 in Malaysia

From May 15-17, ITEX’09 was held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As a part of cooperation and supports for Asian countries, JIPA presented two prizes; ‘Best Biotechnology Award’ and ‘Best Design Award’, at the exhibition. The following two inventions were selected, and the winners were presented with plaques and gifts.

1. JIPA Award for Best Invention in Biotechnology
   “PCR DISC”
   Inventers: Asma Ismail, Sugumar Dharmalingam, Lingxue Kong
   Group: Universiti Sains Malaysia

2. JIPA Award for Best Invention in Industrial Design
   “FlexiBOL”
   Designer: Kin Wai Micheal Siu

The ITEX is organized by Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS). It has been held every year since 1989, with the goal of developing exchange between inventors and companies, and brings inventions into commercial basis. ITEX has enlightened the Malaysian public on IP mind with its seminars and recognition. This year, more than 600 inventions and ideas came from ASEAN, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, and the event was a huge success.
