Meeting with former USPTO Director Kappos and former Acting Director Rea
ĦĦĦĦOn June 19, 2018, famous guests from the U.S., including former USPTO
Director Kappos and former Acting Director Rea, visited the JIPA Tokyo
Office, and had a meeting with JIPA President Asami, Executive Managing
Director Kato, and members of the First International Committee. In the
meeting, the guests introduced the latest trends in and discussions on
the following hot IP topics in the U.S.: (1) changes in the criteria for
the interpretation of claims in IPR procedures; (2) changes in policies
in the U.S.; (3) issues relating to 35 U.S.C. Section 101; (4) trends in
SEP/FRAND; (5) antitrust laws and patents; and (6) measures to strengthen
the protection of trade secrets, and exchanged information and views on
them with JIPA members.
