International Activities
Exchange of Opinions with Civil Servant Investigators from Indonesia
Mr. Danang and the other investigators are scheduled to be in Japan for a week with the aim of acquiring knowledge of anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy measures in institutional and operational aspects in Japan as well as the aim of better understanding efforts of for example IP-related entities such as private entities, enterprises, and customs.
In the opinion exchange meeting, JIPA first introduced activities associated with anti-counterfeiting measures of JIPA and main issues recently raised in the Indonesia delegation, and held a free discussion thereabout. During the discussion, the Indonesian side pointed out problems such as a difficult crackdown due to the broadness of the national boundary composed of islands and low public awareness of counterfeit products, whereas they presented an encouraging proposition by saying "please contact us directly if any problem arises."
In association with the result of a questionnaire sent to the JIPA members, which indicates a high level of interest in current Indonesia, we continuously contact the competent authorities of Indonesia through various channels such as a delegation dispatched this November, an opinion exchange with the National Police in April, and submission of an opinion on the tariff bill in May, as well as dispatch of an investigation team of the Fair Trade Committee in November.
