2015 AIPLA & JIPA Joint Meeting
On April 22, 2015, JIPA had an annual meeting to exchange Opinions & Information with AIPLA IP Practice in Japan Committee at the Tokyo office. AIPLA’s 17 members including President Ms. Sharon Israel came to JIPA, and JIPA’s 24 members including Ex-President Mr. Okunura and Mr. Ueno, Vice-President Mr. Suzuki and Executive Managing Director Mr. Kuji took part in the meeting.
At the meeting, AIPLA gave 4 presentations “Update on Subject Matter Eligibility
of Computer Implemented Inventions”, “Disputes and Developments in SEP
Licensing: The Past, Present, and Future of F/RAND”, “Inequitable Conduct:
Update”, and “U.S. Legislative Update” . On the other hand, JIPA introduced
“Amend-
ment of Article 35(employee invention) of the Japanese Patent Act” and “Study of unity of invention”.
Having lively Q&A on each theme, the meeting came to be very fruitful.
