WIPO GREEN Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya
Mr. Suwa from the JIPA Green Technology Task Force participated in the meeting.
This workshop, entitled "Conference on Climate Change Innovation in Africa - Advancing Knowledge, Technology, Policy and Practice," attracted about 200 participants, including representatives from local companies and university researchers, from all around Africa (Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Benin, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Congo) and other countries.
In the workshop, the following four panel discussions were conducted
- ¡ÈClimate Change Policy and legal landscape in Africa¡É
- ¡ÈClimate Change and its threat to Agriculture and Food Security, Sustainable Energy¡É
- ¡ÈIPRs in facilitating Innovation in Climate Change¡É
- ¡ÈIdentification of appropriate Technologies for Climate change mitigation and adaption¡É
Mr. Suwa from JIPA introduced Japanese companies' technologies registered with WIPO GREEN, and also invited session participants to join the WIPO GREEN network.
Immediately before this workshop, the Tokyo International Conference on African Development was held in Yokohama, in which the bilateral credit between Kenya and Japan was explained. As attention had been drawn to Kenya and Japan, this session was very timely.
