The 26th Trilateral Conference and the 10th Trilateral User Meeting
On November 12, the 10th Trilateral Users Meeting was held in the Hague, Netherlands. Representatives from BUSINESSEUROPE,IPO, AIPLA, and JIPA had a broad talk on unified search report to be based on “One Search”, Patent Cooperation Treaty, Patent Quality, Community Patent Review Trial at JPO, First Filing System, Grace Period and so on. In the dialogue, JIPA representatives reported Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) should be used as a tool for improve PCT with their PPH analysis. It was agreed that the next meeting of 2009 would take place in Tokyo.On 13. November, Trilateral Users Day was held with attendance of JPO Commissioner, EPO President, USPTO Director, and WIPO Director General. Participants discussed plans for build and maintain “sustainable patent system” JIPA urged the user community that “4 same” is required to advance patent harmonization to the next phase.
On 14 November, the heads of EPO, JPO, USPTO and trilateral users agreed to build an even closer mutual relationship.
